    Auto box oil cooler

    G'day all,
I was wondering if, for a remote area fix, a blank plug could replace the oil cooler pipes if one of them blows?
I realize the auto would then run hot, but could it be done to at least get you mobile to where a proper repair could be done?
    Cheers,
    Alex

I believe the fluid is pumped through under pretty high pressure and if it is a positive displacement pump you can't just block it off but someone will have the knowledge.

Note it's not just the hoses that can go, pipe connections on the cooler itself are a weak point. Mine developed a crack and started leaking and was replaced. Thankfully not while out in the bush.

Perhaps some suitable hose and clamps to loop the pipes together?

I don't leave home with out Rescue Tape - World's #1 Brand of Silicone Tape!.
I figure I can use it on radiator hoses, auto cooler pipes and possibly fuel lines.
It's only till I get to civilisation to make a call to get the appropriate part sent by post.
    Cheers, Kyle

I used 'Rescue Tape' on the D2 auto cooler pipe and found that the oil reacted with the tape and sent it soft and gooey.

Was OK for a very short term fit but don't leave it too long before repacing the hose/pipe.

Regular barbed joiners wont work, but Pirtek multibarb with hose clamps should be fine. There is too much pressure in the D2 auto for regular fittings - I've been there and tried that a few time - Multibarb were the only reliable setups.
