    Fuel filter Water Warning Light

I have my warning light flicking on for a mili-second every now and then. I've totally drained the filter, re-primed the fuel pump (as I was advised to by mech) and all was good for about a week. Now it's started doing it again. Thinking that maybe there is a small amount of water in the tank. Do I need to put some 'Fixer" in the fuel tank? Is it ok to do that with the Td5?

I have issues with my FF light as well, only sporadically works on initial start up, never had it come on while driving. Issue with the bulb perhaps?

    fuel filter light

there is a known issue with the sensor which can cause this.
Seeing as you have drained the filter and presumably found no water, the nest step is to take off the sensor plug and give it a squirt with something like CRC contact cleaner, also check for corrosion on the contacts.
Sometimes mine does this especially when driving in heavy rain.I think the water thrown up by the tyre gets into the contact, gives a false resistance reading and sets it off from time to time.
If there is no water present when you drain the filter don`t get to worried about it.

    Hi Wardy
Mines been doing this ever since it was disturbed due to the fuel lines above the fuel tank wearing through due to the wireing loom for the fuel pump rubbing on them.

The tank was drained, so I know that there was no water in it. When I put it all back togeather the filter light keeps flashing on every now & then.

Get a new sender or just disconnect it but check for water in the fuel often. So far after 6 months no water in the tank. Despite a flicker from the lamp?

Mine does the same but only after washing out the wheel well of dirt etc after lots of dirt/mud driving. I used to religously take off the filter and check for water but it was always just a small to minute amount of water that was interfering with the sender plug........ as per the advice - spray a de-watering compound around and in the plug and all will be well!
