2002 V8 ES will i be upset at no CDL

    Hi Guys,

Just looking for some opinions on this.

Very keen on a silver ES for sale, 02 non update with no CDL.

I want to be able to hit the Vic High Country and conquer some tough slopes and am wondering if i will regret buying an '02 with no CDL (linkage or internals).

Worth retro fitting a locking one?

    Cheers

    nico

If the car is perfect apart from the CDL missing, then just factor a conversion into the price.

if you are going to be doing serious 4wding then yes you will be disappointed. To put the internals in will basically mean changing the tfr case etc.

If for occasional use then fine if you account for the limitations.

If you are keen on a cdl then I would be looking at alternatives.

Thats what I was thinking, would the change of Internals upset any of the electronics or the way the Traction Control operates?

    cheers

No, it will be fine. It will enhance the off road capability and assist the traction control....

IIRC you don't need to replace the whole transfer case, just the front section where the centre diff sits.

that is correct and what I got for my 02 model. front output housing with the right internals and spigot.

Ashcroft do a kit to install the missing cdl parts:

Ashcroft Transmissions - CDL Update Kit

On current exchange rates the update kit would cost you $460 delivered.

Add the cost of the kit and fitting to the purchase price of the D2 you are looking at and see what that would buy you. It it still looks like a good deal then go for it.

    cheers

To this you will also need to ad a linkage/lever/actuating kit.
