IMO measuring voltages on the MAF output without seing the AAP and MAP readings at the same time is completely futile cos the suction through the MAF must be corroborated with the boost otherwise a simple restriction in the inlet/exhaust or a boost leak can make the MAF to be lower or higher than expected in a ''healthy'' environment ...so @onebob's experiment might be irrelevant as long as we can't see what MAP reading was at that time cos if the MAP was at maximum limit then that MAF is low but if ther MAP was at the same percentage of it's max reading as the MAF then the MAF is good ...and so on if you see what i mean ....

....cos we must know what the MAP was then to decide about the MAF

thankyou Offtrack, Chris, Pedro and Sierrafery for your constructive replies. A diagnostic tool such as Hawkeye or Nanocom is on my list of tools to purchase but in the interim the digital multimeter is all I have.

My D2 is a 1999 build and as such i believe has a EU2 spec TD5 and my recent (yesterday) reading on that engine is that the MAF has no control over fuelling but controls the functioning of the EGR valve which I do no longer have installed so in that case does the MAF on a de-erged EU2 TD5 influence any other critical functions?

No.... i didn't know of DiscoTD5.com before you pointed me to it - thanks . I had a scan through the web pages and have found some answers and now even more questions. A number of items caught my attention, the TD5 datalogger and that probably i will need another ECU to be able to alter my fuelling map in my spec engine, the smoke limiter map page was informative for me .... more reading to be done before opening my wallet MAF resistance values

    thanks again... didn't know.

The data logger interests me but its current status is unclear - but having said that I'm still wading through the site pages..... it's a head spin for this old man
