Thread: D2a Rear diff pinion seal weeping.

G'day robbo.
My front one was pointed out as weeping on rego inspection, so might be similar.
Think it worked out to be about $130 replaced genuine.
If its only weeping, then it's not a major issue if you keep your eye on the level, or so i understand.
I may of course be wrong, given that i have about as experience in landrover issues as a two year old, but im getting there

First check your breather hose is not blocked, otherwise you'll have a leak even after replacing the seal.

The seal isn't too hard to replace. The problem is getting the centralising pin out of the flange to get to the bolt. There is a special LR tool for it, but you can do it using a small piece of metal tube, a couple of washers and a long M8 bolt.
Then you may also want to use a small plastic tube same diameter of the seal to knock it in evenly into the diff, I just bought some plastic tubing from bunnings.
