    Rave CD Error??

I believe the CD, mine is marked LR Rave 11, is incorrect with the sequence of tightening the engine sump. The CD shows starting from the bell housing end and working side to side towards the front. Two other diagrams I have show starting in the centre and working towards the ends. Before I start the job would someone confirm the correct sequence. Also is my CD out of date I have had it about three years.

the general rule when tightening anything like this, whether its the sump, head, rocker cover, manifold or whatever is to move from the centre out. Thats what I would do regardless of what Rave says. I'll check my copy & see what it says, but the 1970's manual from my S3 definitely had it from centre out
    Cheers, Alex

My copy of RAVE says to tighten from the centre out, torqued to 25 Nm or 18lbf.ft.
I couldn't figure out how to copy the page including the diagram, otherwise I would have posted it here. I got RAVE in January, so it might be worth updating yours.
    Cheers,
    Alex

The final RAVE CD was published in 2002 and contains Discovery Series II Workshop Manual which is Publication Part No. VDR 100090 ENG (6). The most recent Workshop Manual is VDR 100090 ENG (9) dated 2005 but this is not available as a PDF to my knowledge.

There are a significant number of Tech Bulletins which were released after 2002 and contain updated procedures and torque settings. As an example the torque settings for the four bolts at the bell housing end of the sump were revised to 28 Nm after the sump gasket was redesigned to eliminate problems with oil leaks in that area.

The most up-to-date version of the workshop manual documentation is available by subscription on the LR Tech website : TOPIx - TOPIx

That appears to be for the V8, but I think Len has a Td5?

This is from the current revision (9) of RAVE:

Len didn't specify Td5. I assumed V8 as one would.
