    Reversing lights, minus the reverse.

    Evening all
Given that we have a property, and recently an alarming number of escaping sheep, it's pretty common to have to get out and open/close gates.
I've gotten in the habit of sticking the disco in reverse and leaving the handbrake on, so that I can use the light to see what i'm doing.
Is there any way to just hook the lights up to a switch?
It's just not always convenient to stick it in reverse.
    And besides, I like switches
    TIA
    Cheers

Just stick a work light on a pole above the spare wheel and wire it to a switch on the dash. The best of both worlds. You have light and a switch to play with.

If you have a roof rack, you could mount a small spottie on that. I had two rear-facing spots on my old roof rack. They were aimed downward.

Dunno the legalities of being controllable from the driver's seat. Mine were switched from the rear loadspace. Oh, they also had covers on them when on-road.

Magnetic 24 LED Powerful Camping Lamp Light Hook SilverBright Camping New | eBay

Magnetic AND a hook! Although it doesn't give you a switch.... and you can forget it....and the body panels are probably not magnetic. Best idea is to mount a LED light via a dash switch.

No racks at the moment, my racks are a small pile of steel that a mate and i are somehow going to turn into a light bar, half racks (sunroof) sliders and a rear bar.
Might try fitting an LED to a bracket on the rear wheel carrier.
And a switch, definitely one of them

Use your rear fog lamps. I used them a lot while travelling with a trailer just ro check all was well.
AND they're red, so your nigt vision won't be affected as much.

That is actually genius, i find myself riding the brake a bit when going backwards when it's really dark to aid the ****y little reversing lights on the non-update D2's, good idea, as well as the fact they're red.

I've wired my L/H reverse light to my second battery for use when camping.
I fitted a switch through the rear cargo blind hook hole(above the vent).
This puts it just inside the door and easy to get to.
I also fitted a diode to the system so no power can get back into the car harness and the BCU yet still alows the light to work in reverse.

    Cheer, Kyle.
    Cheers, Kyle
