Spare key issues
Ok so not long ago (today) my keys fell in the brisbane river whilst i was at work. fortunately i had some spare keys cut but they only unlock the door with the alarm going off as soon as you open it. rang the local land rover dealer and he gave me the code for my car once i gave him my vin number details etc.. but i have to enter this code everytime to start the car and was quoted 360+ for a new key. A few questions.
1. is that quote price for a single key or a set of 2 or more keys?
2. is there anyway that part of the security system can be disabled so i can use normal spare keys? because i know this wont be the last time i lose a set...
thankyou

The price is probably per key.
You can get them out of the UK for about 150-160$
Anyone with a Nanocom should be able to program it for you. You can even reprogram a second hand key if you can find one with a Nanocom, which is I believe something that LR cant do.
I believe I read on here somewhere that you only get so many uses of the emergency access code.... I may be mistaken though...
I am pretty sure you cant turn the security off completely.
Having said the above about anyone with a nanocom can do the key, it is a bit of a stressful job by my experience where I ended up with the car running, 2 dead keys, and the dashboard turned off, then when I turned it off, a car that wouldnt do anything atall...

thanks for the info guys! went out to MR automotive at redcliffe and got a spare key programmed for $300. still rather expensive for a spare key but i guess thats just the going price. Love the service you get there though! far better than going to a dealer for help!
