    Ceramic coated TD5 exhaust manifold

Just thought I'd share some pics of my exhaust manifold. I cut the webbing out, had it machined flat and then ceramic coated inside and out.

Hopefully never have to think about it again! (well after I put it back in that is)

    Nice, mate.
have you logged any numbers, temp wise as a before and after comparison?
Engine bay/ manifold exterior and EGT?
Let us know if there is any appreciable decrease in lag/ increased gas velocity?
    Cheers, Dave.

Nice, was it the mob at Brendale that coated it? Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Yeah, what he said!!!! Looks great. Mine just has a cutting wheel slit between the webs. Seems ok for the now.

No data sorry, it was kind of a spur of the moment thing get the coating put on. I dont have any EGT measuring equipment but I'll try to get hold of one of those infrared thermometers to get an external manifold temp comparison.

Yeah bob, it was those guys at Brendale. Was pretty happy with finish, service and price.

Matty, let me know when you get the sensor. I'm in Northlakes, so can bring mine over for a standard comparison for anyone else who is interested.
    Price and supplier?
    Thanks, Dave.

The Ceramic coating won't stop the warping.
    2003 D2a Auto TD5 good Landy gone

WARP is that something else to worry about - under what conditions do they warp?

High EGTs usually from a 'chipped'or remapped ECU combined with a manifold that hasn't had the webs 'eased' like the pic from the 1st post.

If you haven't destressed the manifold, they tend to warp and pull a exhaust stud....first indication is the classic 'whistle' from the exhaust when accelerating - especially when cold and telltale exhaust soot around the warped area.

Not a big deal to fix and when you get the manifold back after getting it surface milled flat, remove the webbing between the ports and if you are really motivated, replace all of the original exhaust studs with better after-market items and you won't have any further problems
