Thread: Central locking

Offtrak, decision to purchase hasnt had anything to do with the door locks. Just a query to see if that was normal. Used to my falcon the way it locks and unlocks. I am sure certain features like that will grow on me.
And two pulls on the handle, will unlock it. Will try that tomorrow when I take it to a mechanic to get the faults rectified.
The main thing for the pause on buying was the oil leaks. If I knew where they were they coming from it would have been easy. But theres alot of oil under there.
Oh and I was hoping for ACE and SLS for my money. But no ACE, cant see it being a big issue. The std sways seem pretty tight.

Mine locks at about the same speed and I agree - but SWMBO swears by the system as it means all of the doors have already automatically locked in the event someone later tries to climb aboard at intersections etc - yes it can/does happen. For similar reasons she swears by the once click to open drivers door, two clicks to open t'others. So even thogh I have a nanocom, I'll live with it. I can't fault her logic - for once!

I agree with your issues re people entering the car- Living in the bush and due to a small crash with a person who cant open the door inside your car will be written off as they will cut the doors open only due to the doors locking whilst you are driving.

Pitty I didnt know that the single point entry could be turned off it was a pain in the butt

I think you'll find the doors automatically unlock when the inertia switch triggers.

This is in the owners manual:

An inertia switch, operational only with the starter switch in position ‘II’ and the alarm disarmed, prevents the doors centrally locking (or if the doors are locked, will unlock them) in the event of an accident or sudden impact.

This works the same whether you are driving in the city or the bush...
