The roof rail extensions come with the guide thingy which is needed to drill the holes in the roof. All you need to supply is a hole saw. I'm pretty sure RAVE has the fitting instructions detailing what size hole saw you need. It's not a difficult job.

I suppose I could always have a go at making them...
What exactly is in the fixing kit?
I got mine from Rimmers a few months ago - about $230 landed in Perth. I just checked - not fitted yet - the fixing bolts etc were included, so I hope that is what the fixing kit STC50261 is!!

I also ordered an additional single Rola cross bar to go with the two I already had - can supply numbers if required.

If the fixing kit is the "Aluminium" locating piece, (it would be hard to "just" use a holesaw as the locating block sits into a triple panelled structural roof section & guessing could mean drilling in the wrong spot)
PM me I have one that I can lend if required.
I would like it back tho' as it has helped many people.

    Cheers

Mine came complete with LR picture instructions including what I assume is the alum locating piece - looks a little like an oversize rivnut plus nuts, backing plates etc.

But if I get stuck, I now know who to pester for help!!!!

Not sure if you mean the extensions or the cross bars. We had the LR dealer fit the extensions and then bought a pair of Rhino Rack Aero cross bars to suit.
We carry either a solar panel and full length pod, or the panel and an RV4 Oztent.
All works no worries on just the 2 cross bars but a 3rd would be a better load distribution as the extension rails can sag a bit and the cross bar clamps touch the roof.
    Cheers

I've read quite a few of the D2 roof rack threads, they've been a wonderful source of info.

    Muppet

Can you tell me where I can find D2 roof rack threads. I did a search using roof racks and came up with nothing. Then tried "roof" and all I got was this thread. I then tried "racks". Same again, this thread.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
