    Factory Roof Rail extensions

    Evening.
    Luckily for me, looks like ill have a few extra quid to (Quote, my mother)
    "Waste on that car of yours"
    What i've been looking at is the idea of some roof racks.
    Given that I've got a sunroof that WILL work one day, and I quite like the factory rails, the extended factory rails with some cross pieces seems to be the way I'd like to go.
    I don't put lots of gear up top, so I'm not looking at baskets or anything, just a place to stow a swag or two if need be, the old hi lift and long handled shovel.
    Originally I was just going to put two cross pieces across the originals, but i'd rather not have heavy metal items above the glass of the sunroof.
    I've read quite a few of the D2 roof rack threads, they've been a wonderful source of info.
    However the one thing I haven't found in any of them, or online is where to get them!
    Perhaps I'm just not looking hard enough!
    Can anyone give me a heads up as to where I might be able to find them, and what sort of prices they'd fetch?

    EDIT: Found them in the uk, roughly $160 not including shipping.
    I'll check the wreckers.

    Can highly recommend them Muppet.

    We traveled around OZ for 9 months with them and 3 crossbars:





    The big advantage is of course weight saving (why have a 20Kg empty roofrack!?) - which means you can carry more gear and stay under the recommended max roof loads.
    We carried a Kayak (25Kg) and and OzTent (20Kg) and spread the load evenly across the 3 crossbars and no problems at all.

    Yes, STC50034AA is the part number & LR have them in stock according to my local dealer.
    You might need the fixing kit STC50261 too which they don't have any more .

    Your local dealer can get them in for you, probably overnight but definitely in 2 days.

    I don't know what's in the fixing kit as the parts catalogue doesn't break it down or show a picture.

    I was very suprised to see that the roof rails don't have cross bars on them, I thought my last disco had them (though that was the rossignoli in 95), I'm sure I remember being able to put timber up there coming home from Bunnings

    I think they were supplied standard with the D1s, especially the Rossignol as it came with skis too.
