    Front Windscreen replacement

Anyone in Adelaide had luck with a company who knows how to properly install a windscreen into a Disco 2?

Need a new one, but have read and heard horror stories about poor seals and installations. I believe the bonnet needs to be removed etc from talking to my mechanic.

Can anyone recommend a company who can do it properly?
    Cheers

Just rang O'Brien. They seemed to know how to install properly -bring it in to the branch because it's a 2 person job. I said I knew the bonnet would need to be removed and trim etc, and I assumed thats the way it would be done. The bloke on the phone said -yes thats the way they'd do it. Difference in standard glass and Optikool was around $45. Unless I get some alternate feed back it seems to be ok.

    Cheers

It's not necessary, but I suspect it makes getting the plenum on and off easier to do without cracking it into a million pieces. Obrien's did mine, and sent out one guy, who made a bit of a mess of the plenum, and had to come back for a second crack after the seal leaked in the first downpour after the windscreen was changed.

If O'Briens can do the optikool for $45 extra I'd jump at it. The "quality" replacement I had fitted by them has already cracked near the base on the passenger side.

Had recently replaced a windscreen under my insurance cover. The guys didn't remove the bonnet. However, when I picked up the disco the plenum plastic cover was bent on three spots and didn't seal with the windscreen. There were 1cm gaps between the cover and screen, so I think that this is exactly the result of doing a messy job without removing the bonnet.

I complained to AAMI and they organised a replacement for plenum. Their smash car repairer installed the plenum (again without removing bonnet) and again the plenum was bent - this time in one spot, but you would hardly notice it. I can :-))) Seals perfectly so I left the shop satisfied...

For those interested: Just the cost for plenum itself: $300. You have to get a LR part, haven't been able to locate an aftermarket part.

Bent would be interesting. You can barely flex them without the plastic cracking.

Don't know who does what or how, but I have Novus do mine.
No bonnet removal, and replaced with the boys gone (done in my driveway) in under 2 hours.
My A pilar trims were buggared, so I ordered a replacement pair (new) on e-bay (Perth location). It took a while...6 weeks... to arrive, contacted Novus and they installed the trims for me for free. And no issues with the cowling...
