They went okay in the deepish mud I had a go at today :)
You must have gotten unlucky in Top Valley then :p

I started with the Michelin 4X4 tyres that she was born with. Agree with slunnie on these.
I recently fitted some Toyo Open Country AT 255 16 65. As per standard fitment. Very impressed. Good price too. When they finally spell "TYRE" as it is spelt in this country, I may concider a Cooper. Cant get them in OE size anyway and are a lot more expensive.

BFG AT and very happy!
Fitted Yokohama Geolandar to my X-Trail, lots of road noise compaired to the BFG's
currently running stock tyres as i just bought the car but hear good things about the km2 tyres. does anyone know what the max legal size tyre you can run on a d2 in qld am thinking of trying 265/75/16 km2 which i think is bout 31.6'' overall.
cureently coopers st maxxxxx in 225/75/16
perviously coopers st 227/75/16
never had a problem despite some peoples dislike, driven all over the pilbra through some off the rockiest country you`ll find, deep red pilbra mud, they just keep goin, will probably get another set when the times up for my current set, pressures are important, adjust them accordingly
I think everything except the weather is irrelevant at Top Valley.
If it's wet, something will get stuck.
Nuff said :p
Then rocky can come and give you the options:
Option a) Chassis warp from his drag chain drag race or
Option b) Sliced and Diced with the hand winch.
How can you lose with options like that?
I'll stick to the shovel thanks rocky....:p
Mickey Thompson STZ, in 235/70-16, good so far, but not done heavy 4wding though.

:rocket:
We have four vehicles at present, all have different tyres.
SsangYong Rexton ...255/60/18 Hankook A/T's ...last forever, do nothing special other then that.
Disco 1...285/75/16 BFG A/T's ...love them
Disco 2...265/70/16's Bridestone 694's A/T's ...Average tyre, they were good when new, now not excited about them.
Disco 3...265/60/18 Cooper AT3's ...excellent all round tyre, very glad we bought these, for more serious off roading Cooper STT 245/75/17's ...Have had no issues with these so far but have not done many miles.
Cheers,
Terry
Cooper S/T 255/70 16 because they were on it when we bought it. Have replaced 2x fronts as previous owner didn't know about wheel alignment  and one was badly scrubbed on the outer edge. The remaining 4x now have 95,000km km on them and still have good tread depth. I have done 45,000km on them with 2 punctures (driveway and an old army camp site).
I know some folks hate them, but my experience so far has been nothing but excellent. I watch and adjust tyre pressures accordingly ... Next time I'll probably try the S/T Max.
