Just changed out wrangler HPs 255/55/R18 for 5 x General grabber AT2's
A whole new drive which is great, much wailing and gnashing over which tyre to buy..fingers crossed they deliver![]()
was running Michelin 4X4s on a Disco 1, couldnt replace them... damn!
heaps of research got Michelin replacements, but they were LT rated, mistake, too hard, poor grip.
Got Goodyear Wrangler 245/70/16 AT/R... excellent tyre.
Now need replacing, rang the tyre dealer this morning, ... not made anymore...damn!
thanks to everyone who has posted here I can see some options, happier now.![]()

Im cheap- linglong 265/75/16 AT, just fitted my 2nd set last week, got 50k out of them at $163 each[new ones were $181!], they get a flogging on the weekend and im not down $430 if i stake one. ?Im happy
Goodyear MTR 265/75/16 for off road and Michelin XPC 255/65/16 for on road.
Previously MFG MT 265/75/16
I prefered the BFG's as they are taller but the MTR's are marginally quieter.
Cheers,
Franz

My 245/70/16s are great, can throw the disco around in the wet and I reckon it'd roll before they slipped
Then again....with the new lift on today they look too small![]()
On previous 4wds I've had a good run out of Pirelli Scorpion AT's, would happily use them again.
I've also had Cooper AT 235/70R16 in passenger strength. No problems offroad, but that said I don't do extreme stuff these days.
Currently I have a set of LT Cooper AT3 245/70 on the D2a. They came with the car but I am impressed. slightly firmer ride but good grip and they appear to be wearing well. The slightly larger diameter also neatly corrects the speedo error.

Further to my last (didn't want to jinx myself!) - my new set of Pirelli Scorpion ATs are just back from 13000kms up the Oodnadatta, Gibbie, Bungles, Tunnel Creek end of Gibb and down the Tanami and didn't get one flat.
D2a was fully laden and towing a 1100kg off road camper.
Running 42psi on the road, dropped to 28-30 psi for dirt tracks (i.e. tanami, oodnadatta etc).
