ACE enhancements

Thats exactly it Chris, I hadn't seen that before (or I'm old and forgetful) but thats exactly what I was thinking. A very nice setup. The coil overs and mogs are a bit flash too! Who's Discos are those?


Clubagreenie, the advantage of that front setup. The radius arms generate roll resistance. Articulation is generated by the axle bushes ability to deform. That setup removes the 2 bushes on the end of each radius arm (replacing it with a link that has 1 axle bush) and the axle is prevented from rotating through the new upper link. It allows more and freer articulation.

Ahh, I wondered if that was Greg Davis.

That was on the road for about 2 years and in "build" state for about the last 10 years. A nice truck.

There is some nice work on it, unfortunately I doubt half of the ideas would be possible over here on the road.

I can recommend this device on a D2 with standard air suspension. It produced a very noticeable improvement in ride quality on undulating roads. The stiff roll bars an an ACE equipped D2 cause a lot of sideways rocking. Freeing up the rollbar stiffness allows the suspension to work.

I built an early version of it with info and basic program supplied by Graeme, and I drive most of the time in semi locked mode, which allows the suspension to move freely, but retains the cornering control.

Even softer ride with the bars completely unlocked, but you lose the lean control on cornering.

Very easy to fit (not so simple to make!)

I am looking to purchase a TD5 03-04 , for doing desert and remote trips , is ACE a good thing to have on a vehicle doing these types of trips , I think the air suspension is good to have for self levelling purposes as it has limp home options but not sure about the ACE , is it worth having or could it be a problem in remote areas.
