    Bunny hopping D2 FIXED!!!!!!

Well it was a 10 minute job with an 8mm socket and a long extension and a pair of pliers. I replaced the boost modulation? valve part no. pmk100130 and whaddayaknow!!! Weeks of testing this and that and finally, just replaced the dang thing and it works Can now give the Disco full throttle when needed and it is smooth and fast and pulls like a train

Probably the easiest fix I have done on it with the most immediate results.
    Very satisfying

Maybe not. Just sunk the boot in and it did it again...Mind you it is definately better than it was Are you supposed to be able to move the rod on the turbo itself by hand?

No, fair bit of resistance but you can move with vice grips. Your problem could be a faulty MAF sensor. Is it chipped? Does it have an overboost box?

    Hello,
No you shouldn't be able to, should be quite tight, depends how strong you are. could be a stuck waste gate and I would look at changing the injector harness wiring loom, this is more intermittent fault and this is one of the main causes for missing under load or bunny hopping....... this should sort it, if you can hook up to a nanocom this will tell you if you are over boosting or not.

G'Day Richard. As stated in the many recent similiar threads, I believe you have replaced a perfectly operational Boost modulator with a shiny new, perfectly operational, Boost Modulator.
The cold weather this year seems to be kicking a lot of TD5s (mine included) into over boost. You Mod reads this and kills the fun before it kills your engine.
As recommended, bung a Nanocom/ Testbook or boost guage on it and check that you are not exceeding 1.2 Bar of boost at WOT.
If you are, wind the pre-load nut on the wastegate actuator rod back 3-4 full turns until the B'Hoppin' stops, check the guage. wind it back up till you start jumping again, then back it off half a turn.
Re-adjust when the weather warms up a bit.
    Regards, Dave.

PS, dive into the bin and fish out the old modulator and retest it, then put it in the spares box.

    Thanks for the replys!
I bought a new engine harness just on spec because every one seems to replace them sooner or later, I just wasn't sure what symptoms to be looking out for. So perhaps that is the next thing that I can do. I don't have access to a nanocom.
Car itself is stock standard as far as I know.(although I added an EGR blanking kit) I had the MAF off a while ago and cleaned it out with the circuit board spray stuff from CRC. It was very grotty inside but now nice and shiny. In fact the car is actually running about the best it ever has since I have owned it, Just got to smooth out the wayward rabbit causing the hopping and it will be time to sell up!

A long shot but also check and clean the inlet manifold pressure/temperature sensor, these get gummed up by a tar like residue when the EGR is fitted.
