Rear brake disc thickness

RDA Golds fitted. Pretty happy with them - they are super super shiney. Apparently it will take up to 700kms before the gold coating on the disc surface has worn through and the pads will actually be able to grip into the disc.

Thanks for posting the photo of the RDA Golds.

I was leaning toward these gold passivated rotors as a way of trying to limit the effects of beach work on my vehicle. It gets a thorough washdown after it's done beach driving and I appreciate that it will never be possible to achieve a 100% salt-free underbody/wheels, etc.

Can you enlighten me please - is the gold passivating treatment only on the braking surface/s? The remainder is painted black right? if I read your post correctly the gold passivating/anti-corrosion benefits will be hugely reduced/gone after less than 1000kms?

Edit: I neglected to ask: the performance of the Bendix and these rotors is noteworthy?

Look at the picture above should answer your question. The whole disc is coated in gold, not just the braking surface. There are no painted areas.

There's no need for the coating on the braking surface as any corrosion on this surface would be removed quickly the next time you brake. So it's fine that the coating wears off this section. It's the other areas that you want the coating to remain.

No idea, the vehicle is not back on the road yet as still doing the TC. But I'd be suprised if the braking performance improvement is anything to get excited about as I've only done the rear brakes which don't do much of the braking (the fronts work two or three times harder usually).
