    Engine Swap

Hi have a S2 Discovery TD5 2000, looking at an engine change as i have been advised that LR cannot supply Manual ECU for my 4x4 only Auto ECU's. Has anyone replaced there engine and what was the results and cost to do this?

What about wreckers. Surely they will have an ecu to suit.

What engine are you going to put in? if it's the same "TD5" whats wrong with the ECU you have? All you have to do is load the new injector codes or use your old injectors if they are still okay. If you are really stuck I can get a TD5 Manual ECU for you (NNN500250)...Joe

I have been told that my ECU is the old type and cannot be upgraded. i will require a new ECU at some stage due a "common fault" with the TD5 that the oring fails in the engine which pumps oil through the whole wiring harness in the engine which i have had replaced, but the oil went through to the computer. LR has cleaned it but cannot but sure how long it will last. the car has lost some much power now, so looking at more what to do if it fails and cannot get a new ECU but want to keep my S2.

I think you have been fed a load of tripe. The Manual ECU's are available, just scarce second hand, new they are a NNN flashable variety and will work with your model. As for the oil, it doesn't harm the ECU and just causes misfiring, can be cleaned and rectified. Search function here 'oil in harness' and you will read ALL about the fix.

Also, Check out bellautoservices.co.uk, he can supply an ECU , chipped or standard.
