Oil in Harness?
td5 running/ idling rough when warm/hot really bad viberation when accelarating til about 2500rmp
i've cleaned the ecu ecu plug injector end of harness checked everything that i've found while searching this site and still it does it
does it sound like i need to replace the injector harness and maybe the loom from there back or is the something else i should be checking ?
Oil in Harness?
2003 D2a Auto TD5 good Landy gone
2015 D4 probably the most amazing yet, why get a RR?
which harness? the injector under the rocker cover? or the wiring loom? cause my next step was going be flushing the loom but seemed to me just to stop oil getting to the ecu and not be a problem in itself and cause i've cleaned the plugs out until nothing but contact cleaner came out of them and it still persisted
I've had a rough runnning engine as you describe although mine was trying to escape from it's mounts at idle - she was not too bad under revs.
I changed the harness under the rocker cover on the two occasions I had this (or rather cleaned the first time and replace the second).
Check the plug under the rocker cover and at the ECU for signs of oil. In my case there was none at either end.
Repalcement fixed the issue for me. Have you checked the ECU for fault codes?
Is the vibration worst between 2000-2500? The heat shield on the turbo comes loose (or cracks the mount between the turbo and the shield) and makes a nice clatter.
Mine was doing it, replaced some of the rivets and that calmed it down for a while but I noticed the mount had cracked the other week, is on the fix list when I get time to service it soon.
Cheers,
Nova
I have had something like this , runs sweat as when cold but once warm was rough . I had a fault code along the lines of injector #1 reading high or open .
If you measure the resistance of the injectors from the ecu plug down toward the engine when its cold and then when its hot , I had one that would go high resistance when warm . I can't remember what the values were but I am not talking 200 ohm to 220ohm etc I went to 4000 ohm , ie an easily noticable crook one .
New injector and all was sweet , except in the clean up I lost the code for itWhen the covers off next time I will read them all again .
Good luck with what ever it is .

no i haven't had it fault checked but i think i'm just going to throw an injector harness at it and flush the wiring loom and see how i go![]()
will update, thanks all
Running rough and vibes definitely sounds like injector harness, swap it out and see what happens.
If it persists you may be looking at something worse
Any coolant loss?
Here's hoping it's the IH!
Best of luck

put a new injector harness in it
and its running fine once again
took forever cause i drop one of the rubber washer tube thingys into the engine bay and then processed to remove battery trays, plastic panels 4 hours later found the thing up under the radiator
just a tip for all, the back of the rocker cover gasket sticks to the top of the head and the litttle thingy are no longer stuck in the rocker cover
fun fun fun other than that its an easy thing to do and thanks to british four wheel drive for having parts in stock and for a great price and thanks for all the advice from the members from this site
Always good to hear a happy ending.![]()
