noisy little fan behind grill on dash near ignition switch

I got a noisy little fan behind a small square grill on dash near ignition switch. It's got something to do with the Climate control / heater.

Sometime ago I happened across a post dealing with this little critter and thought you bewdy ...do reckon i can find it again

Psssst! does anybody else think that the search function could be a tad better ??

It's a sensor for the air con.
I gave mine a quick blast with silicone spray and it shut it up, doesn't seem to have caused any problems with it

Did you spray behind dash or through grille?

Its a very delicate little thing, I cleaned it up as per the tutorial and would not apply any forceful air or large amount of sprayed liquid to it

I had the same in my SAAB 93. I cleaned the little fan with a Cotton Tip Bud slightly wet with water. All good.

Excellent "how to do". Many thanks.

Flush from the success of installing the uhf radio on the weekend, i decided last night to give this a go as the fan has had an annoying whir for a few months.

I cleaned it up with a light brush to get rid of the heavy dirt and then a spray of contact cleaner for the remainder. Used a dab of innox to lube the shafts.

Most of the time was spent trying to get the top retaining screw in and out It has to be in one of the more awkward positions for a screw, a bolt head would have been better.

    Cheers

    Steve
