I was talking to another forum member the other day about this and he told me he has a D1 front shaft fitted by MR Automotives in QLD. This would make a cheap alternative as D1 shafts are everywhere. Has anyone else done this and are there any issues with doing it.

Having said that, the HD GKN or Hardy Spicer unis should only be around $60 ?? retail, at a guess.
Centring bearing is about the same I think from Hardy Spicer.
The advantage of a TW shaft is a wider operating angle (which I need) and longer working length (better plunge/extension lengths) as well as the centring bearing being greasable and the uni's are the next size up 1310 Spicers, which are available anywhere.
Realistically I do need a new one that is longer and stronger down the line but at the moment I need cheap and easy as the car has to be ready by the middle of next month for a comp. That is of course if my new ring n pinion Ever turn up from lucky8
