    Drivers Seat Base Wear

    Hi All,

have been putting off repairing the hole on the seat i have on the drivers side however, its now affecting the foam so time to do something.

Have tried searching around the forum to no avail for a D2 seat base fix.

Its the standard wear the D2's get on the drivers side right hand side top and sides of the seat base where the leather on the side spilts, and the fabric ontop wears through.

Does anyone know someone in Vic that can do this repair for a reasonable price, or know of ways to source new fabric etc to repair just the drivers side base or side qtr of the seat?

    Thanks

You can get both the cover and foam as genuine parts. The foam is around £40 and the cover £120ish plus shipping. You'll be hard pressed to find anyone who has material that matches the original.

Hi, Appreciate the info, where abouts can these be sourced? Happy to ship internationally.

Does anyone also know somone locally (melbourne) who may do it as well, or someone who can do the fitting for me, as I had a back operation 7 weeks ago, and as much as i want to do it myself, its beyond me physically at the moment.

    Cheers

The seat base cover is also the same part number on both front seats, so you might be able to find a used passenger side cover.

Exmoor makes a replacement seat base foam too, not sure how the price compares to OE.

I ordered a seat cover for my 2000 last week so with any luck that should turn up sometime this week I hope. I'd been keeping an eye out for a front seat but it seemed like even a tatty passenger seat would go for $100+, so given the factory covers are still available buying new replacements seems like a reasonably cost effective way to go.

A Genuine cushion is about £8.00 cheaper than the Exmoor foam base.

Part numbers for the covers are dependant on trim pattern and year. I did a quick search and see you have a 2001 so it will be:

    HCA000020SUC - Bahama Beige
    HCA000020LPW - Dark Smokestone

The covers are actually £130 ex vat from Brit-car or Rimmer Bros. possibly elsewhere too.

The cushion should be HGB101070 providing you don't have power adjust.

    Hi Paul

Unfortunately no pics on those websites, trying to work out how I match the cloth!

Sorry I'd missed the "leather and cloth" in your first post. You can probably double the price of the cover in that case....

PM me your VIN and I'll look on Microcat for what trim is listed.

My replacement cover arrived today and as expected it is spot on. Makes me want to replace all the front seat facings but that would be serious $$$.

The trims are made by an OE specialist firm Newtrim UK - Automotive interiors, bar and restaurant seating, manufacturing protection and re-upholstery that does work major UK based auto manufacturers. The production date on the cover is April 2011 so it seems like we should be safe for a little while yet.

The original seat back looks pretty shabby in comparison

Did you order them through Britcar who then sourced them from Newtrim.

I'm looking at replacing the drivers seat (leather).

No, these are genuine LR, and came with all the LR stickers etc on the sealed packaging. Newtrim are OE trim manufacturers for Land Rover. I don't think they sell to the aftermarket trade.

I got the cover from LR Series, but pricing is similar from Brit-car and Rimmer Bros.

Leather covers are available still but around £230ex vat. I guess that isn't too bad in the scheme of things.

This is a Dark Smokestone seat cover (for the base, rather than back):
Britcar (UK) Ltd > HCA000220LPW COVER ASSY - FRONT SEAT CUSHION (G)

The base part number for the leather seat cover is HCA000220 with the three letter suffix designating the colour.

    HCA000220SUC - Bahama Beige
    HCA000220LPW - Dark Smokestone
    HCA000220SMK - Light Stone Beige
HCA000220WQM - Dark and Light Smokestone
    HCA000220WQN - Alpaca and Black
    HCA000220PUY - Black

    cheers

    Paul

Thanks for the info. Now I just have to work out the colour. Microcat has my car noted with fabric seats when they are leather. Might be alpaca although looks lighter.

Found this site when searching. Land Rover Leather Colour Chart

    Regards
    Andrew
