    Exclamation URGENT help needed, TC grabbing D2a, stuck

    Hi all, posting for a couple of mates, including Michael2 from here.

    They are stuck in Toolangi outside of Melbourne, with a D2a that is grabbing it's traction control on the front wheels.

    I have talked them through removing all the ABS fuses, and disconnecting the 3 plugs that go to the ABS modulator. I have a D2, but the ABS relay #10 in mine in the engine bay fusebox is not present in the D2a. The TC is still grabbing. They have also unplugged 3 of the 4 ABS leads, cant reach F/L.

    Any ideas? Why/how can TC still be working with all 3 connectors removed from the ABS modulator? Am I correct in assuming that the ABS modulator is what actuates TC?

    I've not got my D2a in front of me so cannot comment on fuse locations, but have they tried unplugging the sensor leads - there's a connector on top of the inner wings.

    My ABS used to work when I had the amigos, so perhaps there's something in the braking circuit amiss that's fooling the car into thinking it's trying to brake and then traction is also lost, triggering the ABS rather than the TC?

    Have advised them to disconnect front driveshaft and drive home with CDL engaged

    Are they sure its a TC issue,maybe they're having a mechanical damage..maybe broken cv's or diff C/P?
    TC can't stall the disco,especially when brakes overheat..

    They have jacked and spun the wheels, and towed some kms without issue. Hopefully they get home ok

    Hi Guys,

    Just got home.

    Here's what it was doing :

    Front (L) wheel jacked up, CDL off - spins OK and no noise with turning side to side (which I'd exect with a CV).

    Front (R) wheel jacked up, CDL off - spins for a bit, then the brake seems to grab. Putting the jack handle through the wheel spokes to touch the brake caliper, it seems to be a TC pulsation.

    Removed all ABS fuses, fusible links, unplugged sensor to RHS front, unplagged power and sensor loom to ABS modulator. Car wouldn't start without the ABS fuse under the dash, so had to put that one back in. No change to smptoms.

    I don't know if there's a TC system apart from the ABS, the lap top was out of battery at the time, but the brief look I got at RAVE before it died didn't suggest so.

    The car towed and turned ok.

    Eventually the frot Drive shaft was removed and the D2 got home.

    About to plug in the Hawkeye, but suspicions are now mechanical.

    Any ideas?

    Is my mate really about to get a front diff lock?

    Long shot and I may be way off the mark but is there any mud/leafs in the hub?
    Maybe the pick up is getting bad readings bringing the T/C on.

    Be interesting to see what it turns out to be.

    the quick stop for ABS/TC is to unplug the pump module.

    It sounds like youve either done a spider gear or a ball race point on the CV.

    Front Tail shaft OFF

    Front Wheels in the air (diff jacked up)

    If I spin the RH wheel, the LH wheel has no motion.

    If I spin the LH wheel, the RH wheel has no motion.

    there are no grinding sounds, or resistance felt.

    If I turn the drive flange on the diff both wheels turn in the SAME direction - NO differential movement - suggesting a Spider Gear.

    If someone turns the wheel b hand, as alread stated the opposite wheel is still, but the flange spins. However I'm able to firmly grip the flange and stop it, while the wheel still turns - I shouldn't be able to do this.

    So am I safe in assuming it's a diff?

    HAWKEYE had come up with RHF wheel sensor (unplugged by me) and ABS power supply faults. All faults cleared, but now the 3 amigos have com back with an ABS power supply fault showing. Multimeter showed power at the plug, so I'm not sure what's going on with that, it might have to wait till day light.
