Yeah, Vortex is the top diesel from caltex.
I've had the worst results with shell, usually about 100kms less.
I heard the bp might not get you as far but burnt cleaner than caltex.
    I only use caltex now

I use a app on my phone called Road Trip. Records fuel costs and locations. Giving costs and estimates based on current useage.

Here is my fuel usage in Km/L since Nov 2008. TD5 Defender, Chipped, EGR, Std Boost with Coopers ST, with 1.222 (Disco) gearing.

I do like the loud pedal with the chip

The last entries courtesy of a run up to Cape Range National Park, towing the camper trailer, with some running around at Exmouth, and a quicker trip home with a/c full belt.

    I also use Road Trip.

Preaty happy with mine, on a recent trip to Victoria towing the Daydream (23ft/ 2300kg) I got 13.5l/100km. This figure is combined towing/touring.
    Happy with that.

If just done my first calc, 9.6l/100km combination of start/stop, country & highway driving .

This is running 235/85R16 Goodyear MTR, standard exhaust (Inc cat), and standard tune (As far as I know) and with the EGR still fitted. In a 2003 D2a manual.

EDIT: This figure is taking into account the odo under reading due to the oversized tyres.

Seeings as this is my thread I figure I can hijack it and ask how you are finding that tyre combo with the manual trans, and is it running standard coils??

    Cheers

It's a bit sluggish off the line, but once going no real problems. I was use to own a 200TDi Defender running 7.50R16 with a tweeked fuel pump which felt quicker off the line, but its gearing was lower.

Not used the Disco off road in anger yet, but have had no tyre running issues. It has had King Springs fitted so about 40mm higher? The tyres and sprimgs were on it when I got it.
