TC Leak - Td5
Morning all.
Have noticed that my TC has a slight leak, just been availing myself of the great knowledge base that this forum is.
I don't have any pics, however I never have puddles or anything on the concrete slab I park on, and it just seems to be a single drop that doesn't drop, just holds onto the lower edge of the TC.
The crossmember (I'm assuming it's a crossmember) beneath it always seems wet, with several drips on it but not dripping, same as the TC one itself.
AFAIK it's always been there, about to go in for it's second service in my ownership, with the first one being done by G Cooper who didn't mention it so I'm hoping it's not a major issue
Any thoughts?
Cheers

Mine's had this - just keep an eye on the oil level in the TC - I recently changed my oil and added a tube of seal conditioner from Repco and when I looked under it at the weekend it appears to have stopped leaking - I can only assume that this, along with the fresh oil, has stopped/reversed seal degradation - the old oil was pretty dirty, so who knows....
the only leak I have now is the rear output seal - already changed it but I suspect that the drive flange was also worn to the extent that it doesn't want to seal anymore...

Just had a main input seal replaced last week as it was dripping. I wasn't too happy when it was still dripping after the proper drive the next day. Turns out I had mutiple leaks as it's still dripping in the same area but making it's way from the trans sump. How specific do you have to be with these LR specialists... Told them to call me if they identify anything else that could be the source of leaks.
Guess I get to throw on an auto trans servicese kit which was on the list anyway.

Had another look after giving it a good high speed run home from uni.
Seems the drips are on more than one bolt, but it's the bolt heads where they collect.
Doesn't look bad, more of a seep than a gushing leak.
Might see if tightening the bolts does anything.
I've never noticed big pools or drips under it in the morning, was a slight spot immediately after shut off, maybe 3 or 4 drops.
Hasn't stopped running like a dream since I got it, box feels fine
Well, at least after it warms up
