Gee, I don't know what my Disco 2 TD5 will do. It easily gets past the speed limit but seriously, If I want to go fast I will use the Jeep Cherokee sitting in my garage. If I want to go off road I will use my TD5 Disco and enjoy the looks on the Jap 4wd owners faces as I winch them out of the ****.
I wish to make a theoretical observation.
Given the right circumstances of clear, straight roads, no other traffic, etc, I would estimate that including speedo inaccuracies due to tyre size, my Discovery would achieve a speed of roughly 150km/h with some left, before it was slowing down was required for safeties sake.
Theoretically speaking, of course.
Sorry I know its in the D2 section but...
My defender, chipped TD5, is good for 160 on the flat. But it seems like a cruel thing to do. From memory I think it ran out of gears rather than power. It'll sit all day at 120, happy and not stressed.
The guy a couple of pages back, murturi (?) who gets 180 from his disco, respect to that but what EGT and what revs?
0-100's anyone?
Good thread.
No worries mate, if it's got a Td5 then it's cool here
I find around 120 to be quite nice, engine just seems to zip along without being too stressed.
Zero to 100?
I'll tell you tomorrow :Rolling:
In all seriousness, I think 14 was about the best I got.
Slightly bigger tyres, lift, bar, stock ECU.
I am going to chip mine soon. I am planning a before and after on 0 to 100 and the standing 400.
I will report here when I have done this.
I was driving one a while back with bigger inter cooler and big chipp. I had a 16 foot caravan on the back and was leaving cars for dead at the lights.
I must stress that the majority of the time I drive with the upmost mechanical sympathy.
But just every now and then
One life and all that.
Ian.
140km near Malanda, now remapped I'm not sure. Going to Cairns this arvo so may check:D
