[QUOTE=Rok_Dr;1782790]Hmmm that trailer light doesn't sound quite right. It should illuminate on start up as a check and then only when a trailer is attached and the indicators are in use. It certainly doesn't light up on my D2 when any of the lower gears are selected. Perhaps there is something adrift with the brake controller wiring? Add it to the list for the prepurchase inspection.

The mode switch selects either S (sport) in high range or M (manual) in low range. In sport mode the shift pattern is changed for sportier performance. In manual mode you have to use the shifter to change gear with D being 4th.

I wouldn't be concerned with the headlining, everyone I looked at when I was buying earlier in the year had some sort of sag there. I'd be more concerned with the rear door and checking that it is properly aligned.

Any way good luck with it all. From the pics it looks a reasonable car.

    Cheers

Good point about the rear door alignment. Perhaps take a garden spray bottle with water and spray all around the rear door seal. Wet it all the way around, leave it a minute and then open the door. If water has got past the seal, you have a problem.

Hi mate, I live in north Qld and last month bought an 03 Disco2 TD5 in Melbourne that I am very happy with.
Just a thought for you. Before I bought mine I did a Google search for the owners handbook and downloaded it. It had all the info about the transmission mode switch, the hill descent control and all the information you get with the new vehicle. It was a great help in making my mind up about how it all worked as it was a digitized copy of the original book.
I had the vehicle inspected by the RACV in Vic before making up my mind and flew down and drove it back.
I was very impressed with the fuel economy and the way the car drove ( I already own a Disco 1 with V8 petrol) and the D2 has so many more features.
On my way back from Melbourne I stopped at my sons place on the NSW Central Coast and left there for the 2200 km trip to Townsville with a full tank of fuel. I filled it up twice in the remaining 2200km and arrived home with just under half a tank. Cant complain about that.
Another thought, as Robgw correctly said, the transmission mode switch if used in low range will lock out the auto transmission and hold whatever gear you choose but you can also leave the mode switch off and still use it in low range with the auto transmission working as normal but in low range.
Hope it all works out for you, I'm happy as crap with mine.
    Cheers, Rick.

    Got the manual, thanks.
Car checks out OK - only second owner yada yada yada... , need to get the mechanic's inspection (organised), get the money (due soon) and see what happens. Hopefully a lot as the Flandie is dying I think

I am still baffled by the trailer indicator on the dash as it seems to come on in 3 (not in drive) and stays on although I need to make sure that's exactly what happens and how long it stays on... might have something to do withe the Voyager Electric Brake controller so it will be a trip to the sparky who put that on.

    Sunday is D2 day

    Decided to get the D2 (or should I say D2A ?? )

Picking it up Sunday. Mechanics report is good and the previous owners looked after the vehicle very well. Small issues here and there but in line with the age, dropped the price a bit so everyone's happy.

Thanks everyone for help. I sent the mechanic the full list of what to look for, what to check and what I need to know and he has gone through it with a fine comb. Good bloke.

Pics will come once the D2 is home.

    Not sure if this helps:

Our ARB bullbar indicator lamps also triggers the trailer light on the dashwhen indicating. I'm about to order some LED replacements to remove the loadfrom the indicator's circuit which should resolve the issue.

Our trailer light flashes in sync with the indicators, from what you have describedyours stays on without flashing?

Nope. They flash. I thought they stayed on and got the mechanic to have a good look. They flash with indicators.

I suspect that's the same issue as yours as my DISCO - gee that sounds good - behaves the same way. Had a long chat to the mechanic and he thinks the same. However it may also be due to the electric trailer brake controller. I'll get the car on Sunday and if the extra indicators drive me nuts I'll sort them out. Need to go to Brisbane in a week so we'll see how things go.

You can overcome the issue of the bar lights triggering the trailer light with 5w globes
Congratulations Mate, Welcome to the club

Sounds normal then. As a test you can remove the indicator lamps from the bulbar. The trailer lamp should stop flashing.
Our D2 has had the trailer lamp flashing that way since we bought our D2 and it stoped bothering me once I figured out why.

Don't worry. Your on the hunt for a D2 so my guess is you will be saying "My Disco" very soon

    Good luck.
