Dave. I have a slick rock disconnect fitted to my Disco. Simple job. I'm sure I put a post up on the forum some time back ... Search ? ... I only have the passengers side fitted, and no lift.
I get nearly and extra 300mm of travel on the front axle when disconnected, as the sway bar isn't holding the front axle up any longer. Also find the Disco doesn't "rock" anywhere near as much when off road .... Swaybar is no longer fighting the axles travel.
One of the cheapest improvements you can do to the front end of a D2 IMHO.

Now that's quite a bold statement...My mate has quite a modified TJ jeep with disconnects fitted and he drives it offroad with no issues at all...can you elaborate some more on what you are saying...Take under consideration while you drive with the links disconnected the only thing that holds your axle are your shocks...

The shocks are your limit straps basically, when the axle drops (say you jumped the thing!!) they're the only thing holding the axle from rotating the hole way under the truck...
Just a point to note ... I had a real white knuckle moment coming home after an AULRO gathering day out up around Lithgow. Departed for home at the end of the day. Forgot to re-engage the swaybar disconnect. Heading downhill (Bells Line of road), maybe going a tad too fast (70kmhr), into a very tight 40kmhr left hander (down hill left hand under hard braking) ... The whole front end just got completely out of shape as the front rhs wheel took the whole weight of the vehicle trying to climb up and over the wheel. I had to steer to the right to stop the back end from stepping out (more than it already did) and ended up way across on the wrong side of the road .... Foot hard on the brake, tyres squeeling, ABS going crazy, front of the disco shaking it's head like a runaway horse .... Scared me ****less.
If you fit a swaybar disconnect, REMEMBER TO RE-ENAGE IT once you are back on the black top, and if for some reason you don't, be aware that the D2 doesn't play nice at speed under hard brakes with it disconnected!
Always helps to drive a bit slower in those tight windy downhill sections as well

Sorry for the hijack, but, If any one is keen on going halves in a set of disconnects give me a pm and we can sort it out!
I too had these swaybar disconnects on my 2003 disco it made a massive difference offroad. I also only fitted the passenger side and sold the other one to another member. If my memory serves me I had to grind a small amount of each side of the actual sway bar in order for the disconnects to fit only couple mm other wise a straight forward job, you do need the disco to be on level ground to reattach easily!
Carry a small $2 poly tarp in you drawers to lay under the front of the disco so you can slide under on your bak to disconnect an reconnect. You can then push or pull on the chassis to help realign for reconnection.

I have them on mine, fitted them when I ripped the ACE system off as they are far more substantial than the crappy standard links.
Be aware tho, if you have longer travel shocks, and disconnect the roll bar, the front springs will dislocate, so "Imo" you need to fit them inconjunction with either front spring retainers, or dislocation cones.
