The aircon compressor is not an engine ancillary, and therefore is common across vehicles.

I phoned many wreckers and dealers and some said they only had the v8 compressor...more v8 s wrecked...the rip offs here wanted a minimum $1200 for a new one. from island 4x4 uk...denso brand new $586 including shipping with fed ex...6days to my door.

denso compressors are made in many countries and in many qualty levels.

the compressor is often standard.
the clutch pulley and coil may be of very different quality.

top plate often wont come with cheep compressor.

ebay has these for $890 in australia.

unlikely to be impounded but you need an import lience to import an A/C compressor.my last compressor came with a warning note.

I dont know what crap is going on here but obviously some local rip off merchants are common...denso is denso and new is new...it may pay to get out of this place quick.

so still 300 more for what. my compressor was stamped made in japan with lr genuine sticker on the box. my td5 crank pulley 500 cheaper with a lr genuine sticker. I reckon you blokes are trying to make too much too fast and that is a major factor why our rovers lose their value so fast....owners just hate being hammered .

price is supply and demand.northern hemishere-and usa will be cheepest now with dumping of old stock.

denso distrobution was hopped to be much better with lots of retail interest and training-but the GFC killed that off.

denso make parts for manufacturers the made in japan-with land rover sticker would be better quality.
denso after market is different.
denso lience is different again.

some of the cheep parts are noisey.

Yes they are cheaper in america but like i said i only learnt the v8 unit was the same from buying in england. US dont have td5s so for that reason i didnt look there...im sure many will now after it is clear that the v8 and td5 are the same compressor. no dramas as this new one works great and very quiet....some people may worry about warranty if buying on the internet but in my experience a quality product is rarely faulty unless installed wrongly...then warranty is gone anyway. i buy all my filters on ebay, penrite diesel 5 locally but new parts i buy from overseas for affordability...never been a problem with customs if the parcel is valued at less than a grand. cheers len

Just for info & comparison I sell good used take off V8 A/C compressors for $150 US to my customers.

Denso aftermarket compressors are also sold on this side under the brand name of SelTec. Made in China & not a patch on the originals, but cheap at about $200 US a pop.
