My 2004 D2 had its suspension lift fitted on friday...... all seemed well untill i noticed that when i shut off the car it seems to dump a fair amount of coolant through the hole in the bottom of the coolant resoviour.... What is this hole? why is it dumping coolant? at the petrol station when I shut down the car it dump a very large amount of coolant and i quickly started the car again and it stopped dumping coolant immediatly then when I arrived home and shut it off it didnt dump any? what is going on?!?!?!

I'll stand corrected if I'm wrong, but any sort of hole in your coolant tank would mean you would lose just about all your coolant . Lift the cap , run your engine, there should be a constant flow of coolant into the tank from the radiator bleed pipe, coming from the top of the radiator, right hand side when standing in front of the vehicle, looking back. This hose hardens over time, & will crack. [enters the tank on the on the neck of the tank, with the overflow pipe next to it.] . You would not get far with a hole in the tank. The TD5 has a habit, when stopped, if the A/C has been running, to discharge condensation from the A/C system under the vehicle. Are you sure you haven't mistaken this condensation for coolant?

From RAVE - The expansion tank is located in the engine compt.. The tank is made from moulded plastic attached to brackets on the right hand inner wing. A max. coolant when cold level is moulded onto the tank.Excess coolant created by heat expansion is returned to the expansion tank from the radiator bleed pipe at the top of the radiator. An outlet pipe is connected into the coolant pump feed hose and replaces the coolant displaced by heat expansion into the system when the engine is cool. The expansion tank is fitted with a sealed pressure cap. The cap contains a pressure relief valve which opens to allow excessive pressure & coolant to vent thru the overflow pipe, the relief valve is set to open at a pressure of 1.4 bar [ 20 psi or above] It could be your relief valve is relieving at a low pressure [ cactus] , or you may have another issue with your cooling system. If you take your tank pressure cap off, and when running the engine you see air bubbles in the coolant flow from the radiator overflow hose, suspect a head gasket problem, this may also explain pressurisation of the coolant tank, Bob
