My diff breathers are on the passengers side of fire wall. Black nylon tubing, prob 6mm.
Check on your diff housing, trace it the tubing back. Prob the easiest way.
If that is the case it's been modified from standard.
From the factory the front diff, gearbox, and TC breathers run to the engine bay. Rear axle runs to either the top of the passenger wheel arch or behind the passenger side tail light assembly depending on when it was built.
I have just relocated my rear diff breather and my 99 D2's breathers were as follows:
Front diff - firewall passenger side
TC and auto - firewall drivers side looped over heater pipes
Rear diff - left rear wheel arch, near top shock mount.
The breather pipe connection to the axle looks like a push fit are there any leakage issues with this.
The D1 has a threaded banjo fitting?
Regards Ollie
No leakage issues. It is a standard fitting for industrial automation vacuum lines, and works well. I'm tempted to say, just because it's the way it's done on the D1 doesn't automatically make it the best way to solve a problem. ;)
The D1 has been in the family longer and has reached legendary status, the D2 is on its way but not there yet. Anyway I thought being tempted to mention something meant you didn't?
Thanks for the reply Off Track II will just lengthen the breather pipes and run them up out of the way.
