Rust area to watch for in Discovery 2

Thought I'd show you all this rust prone spot which is probably known by many. I noticed this while changing the rear drivers side door actuator. The location if you can't see from the photo is the bottom of the fixed window frame. It's chockers with flaking rust(an 8 year old vehicle). I simply saturated it with Penetrol in a spray can with the extender pipe, being careful as to not overdo it and have it drip into the new actuator. I've had success with this stuff before and you hardly need to prepare it. As long as the area is away from UV it won't degrade. You need to remove weather strips and pull the door panel to get good access from both sides so now was a good time.

I've noticed mine has a fine line of rust around this pillar. I haven't worked out how to tackle it yet, but I'm thinking I'll will have a look at it soon after seeing yours. Mine would be easily cured by pumping in some Penetrol if I can work out where to spray it.

Been There done that on my 2003D2a.
That piece is replaceable but is very hard to find. They are the same from the rangies right up to the D2. I completely removed the door frames got rid of the rust where the rubber strip lays on the frame and then fiberglassed and painted and treated with fisholene, this on all 4 doors.
I did take pics and posted here some time earlier this year.
My 89 rangie has less rust in that spot..dunno why..
