Getting the plug back together was dificult.
Ended up using pliers(try a screw driver) to hold the loom plug while pushing the new one in.
    A 14 ring/open for the loom bracket.
A 7mm ring for the 2 cover bolts.
A 1/4 drive 8mm socket for the 2 nuts to hold the sensor(2 spacers on the auto I did too)

I did this all standing on a milk crate over the L/H gaurd.

The beer suplied on completion was the best part of the job
I tried a search for the crank angle sensor and came up empty handed - can someone tell me on what page I can find this item.

    Hey stranger
This thread is for the sensor on the V8.

    IIRC yours is a TD5.
The TD5 sensor is fitted in the bell housing above the starter motor/behind the fuer regulator.
    Cheers, Kyle

What is with the aluminium spacer that comes with new sensors

crank angle sensor.jpgHi guys ... may be a stupid question , but I just replaced the sensor on my 2001 and the new one and the vid I watched had a replacement fitted with the one piece large aluminium spacer shown in the pic I have attached I hope :- ) ? ...

I pulled my old one out and no large aluminium bit on it , just the little std tube spacers ... Was I right to remove that large alum thing to re fit the new one ..? and if so , what is that large aluminium thing for ??? another model ?

EDIT : Just got under and double checked my new install .... seems when I pulled the old one out , that aluminium spacer housing stayed put and I did not see the bugger still in there .... so I did have to pull the housing off the new to get the new one to fit .... :- ) not sure if its a big deal re using that outer aluminum mount ? but hey , lol

In any case , I did this stuip panic even though I had replaced one in my old V8 Disco 5 years ago but it came out in one piece .... might be something that people new top replacing these might want to look out for perhaps ....
