G'day all,
I have seen a few posts here about the xyz/inhibiter switch lately and have been having the M and S lights flashing , a lot too . I have a new calcium battery so it was down ti the switch or the wires causing the problem . I checked the wires and they were fine .
I have seen the price of the switch can be around $800 so i thought i would have a look inside it and see if i could find the problem.
I ground down the rivets and pulled the cover off and could see the problem right away.
It was a simple matter of gently bending the copper brush that had worn down causing a poor contact , give it a clean and rivet it back together and it has now been working fine for a week without any lights .
Before the fix it was impossible to drive without the M and S lights coming on.
You can see in the centre of the photo the black mark on the track that had the poor contact.
There is a brush for each of the tracks and the one that was worn was bent to be in line with the other 3 and gives good contact now .
This problem was not caused by water ingress and the inside was clean and dry apart from the carbom biuld up on the one track
I hope this will help any one with this fault , it is a very easy job .
Ok , just read the tutorial of the same fix but much more detail than i have put down here . The xyz switch on that one is very different to mine though.
My switch is like yours, I suspect the later models had the one in your pictures. I need to have a look at mine again, will check the tension on the contact.
