Ok, I found a locksmith here in Yeppoon and he scanned the key for me. He had problems getting a clear reading since the key seemed to have a "rolling signal", but the frequency was going from 300-345 MHz. So can I assume that I have the 315 MHz version? Or should I get someone with a nanocom to doublecheck?

I also called the Land Rover mechanic in Rockhampton and he said he can program the new key for me.

The system does have a rolling code. Seems like you have a 315MHz receiver.

I just scanned my keys from a 1999 D2 on a Spectrum analyser and one was just under 315mhz and the other just above and both work on the car. I checked the same key while monitoring 422mhz and not a blip so definitely 315mhz. If he was picking something up around that Freq that's what it will be. Also how accurate is his equipment and how often down he get it calibrated, I'm guessing never.

The car I wrecked is a 2000 model and the receiver is 422mhz.

It came to AU$ 168 including postage. They don't have it in stock but will order it in for me.
