    Question First post

    hi to everyone,
I've just sold my trusty old 300TDi and invested in a 2004 Disco 2. I removed my full length roofrack and rooftop tent from the old Disco and am planning to install it on the Disco 2. I can see that I'll need to raise it by 50mm to accommodate the roof bars, and although my best attempts at measurement indicate the widths between the roof gutters are the same, I'd like confirmation of this before I proceed with modifications. Anyone done similar?

Welcome Sorry have no idea about the roofrack but the best would be to use a removable gutter type roof bar to get the correct measurement gutter to gutter. (which you may have done)

I cannot say if they are the same width or not, but they must be close enough to work. People put d1 safety devices racks on d2 and vice versa.

There are a few posts on the US forums that indicate the gutter to gutter width is the same on both D1 and D2.

Yes the gutter width is the same or extremely close anyway. The rack will fit both. I have a D1 rack on my D2.

It would be easier to remove the factory roof bars than to lift your rack 50mm. You need to drop the roof lining to get to the bolts. Somewhere on this forum someone found a plug that fits the hole after removal.
    Cheers, David.

Gday Dave you do'nt have a link to that thread about roof plugs for the rail removal do you. I've been trying to source these but cant seem to find anyone that does them. I've seen them on a few D2's so somebody makes them but who?

Mr Bounce, Welcome to the forum, as far as I'm aware the D2 and D1 are the same, You always see racks for sale to fit either one. Not 100% sure but I think they do.

    Cheers mate Steve

I can't remember Steve. I just remember reading a post some time back that mentioned the plug. It could have been 6 months to a year ago. I think they were for something else but were found to fit well. Hope someone will come forward.
    Cheers, David.
