18K is pretty cheap, look on carsales and you will see quite a few asking for around 30K for 03-04 models.

April 2004, D2a, Adriatic Blue, V8, 5 seat full leather, 79374km one owner originally from Trivett Land Rover in Sydney for $22900 back in January 2010 from a wholesale yard in Bunbury WA. Looked as good in the yard as it did in the photo's and drove even better than expected. Thought the price was reasonable if not a little high reading some posts at the time but looking at some of the links in this thread, got a bargain

    Cheers,

    Peter.

I'll assume you're correct about them being better... We don't have them here, as much as I wish we did. But at least my V8 is a 4.6L.

Were they more expensive when new, or did they just hold their value better?

Funnily enough the yard is no longer trading (but they traded successfully for a lot of years, I wonder what went wrong, change in buyer or management or something)
I test drove the blue one. To compare it to the silver 04 I ended up buying from Bendigo ford. They had less Kay's than my 04 but they where per-update and cost an extra $4000.
And mine came with an RACV 3yr warranty. Which I will find out how good is on Friday (blown auto ).
But looking at the rest of there prices. No wonder they moved on.

wow, glad I didnt go for it (thought about it but felt it was a little pricey for the k's and ks were still modest)THOUGH the advantage of purchase within my home town was tempting. I went and had a look at your silver one to be sure I was happy with the d2 style before I proceeded with my paperwork.
I hope your warranty cap covers your trans

I am hoping to. But with a cap of only $3000. I doubt it. Which really annoys me. As my preferred repairer would have been a lot cheaper than Bendigo ford. But that's who RACV wanted to do the repairs.
Pretty happy with my disco other than the auto crapping itself. But in hindsight. I would have been better off buying a GU patrol with a 4.2lt diesel. With the amount extras I have already brought for the disco. That will ultimately be replaced with a GU in 4-5yrs time. Long term it would have been more cost effective.
It was the trade in on my falcon that won me over.

The TD5's that K'Flat mob had where very clean. But also pretty standard. And I think that blue one was an 02. So per-facelift and no CDL.

They were more expensive new, plus they hold value better.

In 2000 a base V8 Auto S was $47,905 while the Td5 Auto S was $49,314, so there was a 2.9% premium for the Td5. In the current market there seems to be a $3-4000 price (eg $9000 for a V8 and $13,000 for a Td5) differential for similar spec and milage on the 2000's. The Td5 has retained roughly 30-40% more of it's initial value than an equivalent V8.

Anyone paying 30K for a 2004 V8 is soft in the head. Why would you when you can pick up a 2006 Disco 3 with 112K km on the clock for just over 30K.
