When I did mine I replaced the bolts. If it's a V8 pretty sure the inner bolts are shorter (could be vice versa).
There is a good tutorial on the site in the Project Tutorials area(?).

Question time tonight.
I have a slight oil leak from the rocker cover gaskets & intend renewing the gaskets, however, it appears that the bolts may be of different lengths & LR advise that the original bolts should not be re-used. Any-one have any idea why? Is it due to a deformed thread achieving holding power? / or a thread sealant applied?

You can use them again, they are high tensile anyway and goodness knows how much torque one would want to apply to a rocker cover bolt!
BTW, they require an 8mm LONG REACH 12 point socket to undo them.

You'll probably find just nipping up the bolts will fix the leak. They have a tendency to come loose - 'tis a common problem.
I use a 12 point 1/4" drive socket - then it doesn't need to be long reach. However, 12 point in 1/4" drive can be a bit harder to find.

BUT don't go overboard on the tightening as there are steel limiting sleeves in the neoprene gaskets, that limit the crush.
If you go overboard you could strip the threads in the heads, and that would be a PITA.

Torque them up to spec as per rave. No probs using them again.

Think you will find it's 6 ft lbs.
If it's a V8, also check the 2 hoses that fit to tops of rocker covers, make sure they are not blocked, if you pull them off, on the rocker cover where the hoses attach to , have a look for the plastic plug thingy that sits in the hole. These block up with gunk. They only have a very small laddered valley to draw up crank case fumes to the inlet. If blocked they can cause rocker cover gaskets to start leaking.
