Thread: hub nut size, D2

Wheel nuts are 27mm, I'd suggest a 6 sided impact socket

If you're talking about teh big hub nut that holds the bearings and driveshafts together then that's a 32mm, but you'll need something like a 9 metre long () breaker bar to get that loose - it's damned tight!

You're not wrong, looked it up in the Haynes book, driveshaft nut torque is 362 lbf ft./ 490 Nm. Without a torque wrench with that value, I guess it's tighten till you can't tighten any more, Bob

I had to use a 3/4" rattle gun to get this undone. 3/4" drive impact socket set and gun from Supercheap is the go here.

1 1/4 AF Does nicely as well. Not as tight as you might think..but you will need a length of pipe ..ha.

Socket size is 1 & 1/16th inch

I know this because today i decided to ditch my lock nuts and replace them with standard wheel nuts and because the LR Wheel brace with it's 120'ish degree offset lever handle doesn't work well (or at all) with worn / deformed lock nuts I had to dig deep into the tool box for a large socket and breaker bar to get a good solid 90 degree levered drive and pull on the lock nut key.

Go with 1 1/16th inch and you'll right !!
