    Are Mintex brake pads OEM brake pads?

    I just received my parcel from Rimmer Bros today including new ball joints as well as rear brake sliding pin kit and rear OEM brake pads. However, the OEM brake pads are of the brand Mintex. I thought they were supposed to be Lucas. Have I been ripped off and been given a set of aftermarket pads rather than OEM?

    Lucas will be the genuine pads on that web page. OEM refers to supliers who deliver comparable quality and have supplied parts to the manufacturers before, but not necessarily for that part before (ie D2 pads)

    I had Mintex pads front and rear delivered for my D1 when I chose OEM. NO issue with them at all and they still stop the old girl nicely, no squealing.

    I bought genuine pads from Rimmers less than six months ago and I doubt things have changed in the interim.

    Oh well, not what I expected but I will just install these and see how I go. The genuine brake pads are $100 compared to $30 for the OEM so I thought the OEM must be a really good deal. I was expecting identical hardware packed in different boxes.

    We have Mintex on one of our D2's..they have been just a good as original LR..no squeal and plenty of dust for 1/3 the price .

    I just finished installing the Mintex pads together with new caliper sliding pins and boots. I cleaned with a can of brake cleaner and then put copper-eze on everything (caliper-pad and piston-pad contact areas, sliding pin bolts, caliper bolts and wheel nuts). Everything seems to be working fine and there is absolutely no squealing (yet).

    This was my very first time changing brake pads and everything went fairly smoothly. The trickiest bit was pushing the piston back to be able to fit the caliper over the new, thicker pads. I used polygrip pliers. Is there a better tool? I realized that the security wheel nuts suck, so I will try to find a set of four normal ones.

    Talking brakes

    I replaced oem with the kevlar type from a local supplier[ebay tassie] no dust no squeal and checked recently thinking change could [should] be due all good also little wear on the discs!!!!!!
