I spoke with an LR Tech and it seems that it is not uncommon for a rad' over five years old to be brittle enough for the bleed spigot to break when leaned on.
I am sure that I will be paranoid enough to not let leaning elbows go any where near the spigot again. I am fitting the new rad' tomorrow aNd intend to fit a rectangular plate painted yellow and secured by the shroud to rad' end cap screw (spacer under this screw is a good idea) to cover the spigot just in case.
I am working my way through the recommended D2 mod's kindly listed on this site, may be the plastic bleed hose replacement and beware of the brittle spigot could be added. Is there a spread sheet list?
