    Disco 2 New Keys

    Dear all,

I'm hoping someone can help me with respect to ordering the correct key fob for my Discovery 2 2003 TDi.

I'd like to order from overseas as I don't wish to go to the dealers as they are quoting $450 per key!!

I'm at a loss as to what frequency I need and which part number to order. The dealer reckons it’s 100700KIT but I’ve been through the previous threads and this does not seem to be the case for an Australian Disco 2 2003.

My VIN is SALLTGM874A832755. I've also opened up the old key and the label on the Chip is 3EOC35 09/11/04.

Also can anyone help me program the key once I've ordered it. I live in the Brisbane city area but can travel to meet up with someone with the appropriate knowledge.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Hitesh

CWE100700KIT is for the early D2 with the 315Mhz alarm system.

You need CWE100680KIT for your 433Mhz alarm.

The remote/key itself will be less than $300 from a local dealer so I assume the rest is for programming & cutting the blank. A bit exxy IMO though.

BTW, looking at your VIN, you actually have a 2004MY Disco. It may have been built & sold in 2003 but it's a 2004 model.

Thanks for your help. Yes it is exxy! So looking for alternatives. Going to get a repair kit for my existing key and then get the spare new key from overseas.

There is some suggestion i should get the cwe100690kit. What's the difference? Is it to do with it being an aus model?

Will order the CWE100680KIT once I get home.

    Thanks again!

CWE100690KIT doesn't appear on the local LR parts listing so I assume it's not for Australian cars.

    Hi Hitesh,

I went down this path 12 month ago - make contact with these people Karcraft Australia
They will ask you for you VIN and will supply the correct key - very reasonable cost and 1 > 2 days delivery. I have no connection with them apart from being a happy customer.

Thanks, got in touch with Karcraft and placed an order.

How did you go about programming it? I assume i can get the blade cut by a locks smith?

You can swap the blade over from your old key if you like. It just pulls out - use a bit of glue to hold it in place again though as they can fall out of their own accord.

I'm going to repair the old key with a repair kit. So for the new spare key I guess I'll need to take it to a locksmiths to get the blade cut.

Can anyone help me program it in the Brisbane area? I can travel to anywhere in the Brisbane area.

Thank you both for your help!

From eBay the key is from $29 threw to 70-80 range, or about $85-100 range from a LR dealer, to get it programmed I don't know. I just got it all done from LR for $330 and I waited there for 35-40 mins while they did it
