Question regards external driving mirrors
Hi everyone,
Just a quick question regards fixing an issue with a mirror on my dads D2. We have found that the LHS (Passenger) Mirror will move up and down, but not left and right. I can hear the motor running, when you use the control to try and move the mirror. I am guessing that the cogs/gears on the left right movement have come adrift in some way or another.
I have checked Rave, and can only find information on removing the mirror from the vehicle. I have removed it, and tried to find some way of dismantling the mirror to try and see what is going on, but am unable to... short of dropping the mirror on the ground, but that defeats the purpose.
My question is..... is there any way of dismantling the mirror further once off the vehicle, or is it simply a case of purchasing a replacement from a s/h supplier/wrecker.
Once again thanks for your comments/help.
Cheers
Matt

Before you do the new replacement thingy read the rave as to the wiring and check the earths. Mine did the same thing basically, UP, Out,Down, But not in. Replaced with a new and same thing, tracked it to wiring fault connection on earth The wiring diagram can be a little confusing but an ohm meter and perseverance is the name of the game

Thats a good point Scott,
This evening I am going to remove mine off my D2 and connect it to Dads, and see if the problem persists.
I have been quoted $170 for a replacement mirror here in Adelaide.
Cheers

Possibly a broken drive. I had one fail recently. The $170 price, if electric is good

The mirror part clips onto the motor assembly - you should be able to gently remove (lever off) the mirror part - the plastic retainer clip may break but they are obtainable as a separate part. Once the mirror is off you may find that the drive gear on one of the two motors has become detached - they also clip on. Send me a PM if you need a replacement mirror assembly.
