    Transmission oil temp gauge

Hi all what is the easiest and cheapest way to fit a temp gauge to a disco 2 td5?

If you have one where did you mount it? Cheers Matt

While its not the cheapest i fitted one of these and i am happy with it.
Get the optional second sensor and bolt it to side of tranny, use the first sensor for engine temp.
The display sit neatly above of steering column

I went with the Melbourne Autronics version, including a dual digital gauge for AT oil temp and engine oil pressure.
Requires a nut welded to the auto AT sump to fit the probe. I'm still working through an issue where the installers in Perth welded/braised the wrong fitting, so mine currently has an extra adapter and is a bit exposed underneath. Apparently with the auto box there is only one place to fit which gives you a good reading.
My gauge is in a top of dash mounted Mudpod - have already posted this.
Can post a probe location photo if anyone is interested.

Thanks for that. Is there a way of actually measuring the Oil temp?

I was looking at this one today.

looks like the sender is on a thread so i could maybe drill a whole in the sump and then weld a nut over that. any thoughts?

Does a Nannocom tell you the Auto Tranny temp?

    cheers

I fitted a MadMan EMS and installed the oil temperature sensor into the automatic transmission.

You could get one of these if you are on a budget, I fitted one to my race bike, just taped it to the radiator hose and put some insulating foam over the top. You could do the same thing to the out put line from the trans to cooler.

Or one with a higher scale.

That gauge has a NPT threaded sensor so you'll need a NPT weld on socket, better to get a tee put into the hose out to the cooler (should be the hottest part, yes?).

    Nanocom doesn't give trans temps.

There's a thread on here from a while back on an ebay digital display that takes a variety of inputs from sensors. Pretty god value as it can be setup to read about half a dozen things by memory.

Yep that is what I am looking for I love the $10 job but the multiple inputs would be perfect. Ill see if I can find it. Cheers
