Thread: Odd bod stereo?

Is there an ISO plug further down the loom? My LR head unit had an Iso connection on the back so it might be adapted for other units.

I have been working on this issue for a couple of months now. The plug looks like a BMW Round pin connector (photo is not clear). The UK harness adapters and lead suppliers suggest all Disco 2s from 2001 to 2004 have these but its not true. I have a 2004 base model which has standard ISO connectors. It must depend on the model vehicle you have and the consequential sound system (ie head unit).

I have a new JVC head unit and have been mucking around trying to get the correct harness adapters and interface module to allow the steering wheel controls to work. The correct steering which interface connector for my vehicle (I believe, as I am just about to install) is a PC99-X30 which is supposed to be for models 11/98 to 03/01. I think the BMW round pin requires the X14 (not completely sure).

Similar to Marmoset's comment, IIRC, one of the responses to an earlier thread relating to the interface connector issue suggested the standard ISO plug might be further down the wiring loom and you are in fact looking at a harness adapter. If not, you can buy harness adapters on line on ebay for about $15-$20 or from UK for $9-$15 (excl delivery in each case).

I think I've sorted it, there was no plug further down but I did find on ebay the round plug BMW adapter to an ISO connector so I will just use another adapter to the head unit. I should get the parts later this week so I'll report back how it went.

Just installed my new JVC head unit on the weekend. Good news is it went in easy as pie and the sound is much better with virtually no interference when going under bridges, in tunnels etc. Bad news is the steering wheel interface refuses to work despite all correct harnesses, connections and processes. I have sent an email to the supplier in UK but am prepared to be disappointed. Didn't realise how much I use/like the steering wheel controls until I didn't have them.

Has anyone else installed a PC99-X30 or similar into a Disco 2?
