Superlocking not responding

Hi Road Stone,
Thanks for your reply after reading your post I searched the internet for BCU goes to sleep and when superlocked cant use key.

I normally use my vehicle every day but had use of another vehicle for 2-3 weeks. That is problay why this issue has not happened before to me. Did not know when superlocked after 96 hours BCU goes to sleep.

Tried this today
levered rear door frame a bit and use compressed air to blow around interior hoping to set off the volumetric alarm , even slid a sheet of paper inside & blew around.
next folded cardboard and used stiff length of wire & slid in then moved it around hoping to activate alarm . no results

BCU goes to sleep??? There maybe some science in that, but from personal experience with 2 vehicles, I have never been locked out by the BCU "going to sleep". And I have not used the vehicle for weeks on end.
But, the BCU is in control of the locking, and if it's "alseep", there must be a way to "wake it up"?
WRT the key in the lock, and turning to wait for "An audible warning is then emitted to indicate that the body control unit is ready to accept the code"...may work if the wiring to the lock has not been disturbed and is still conected to the mechanism...had a series 1 disco (2nd hand) that was supposed to do the same thing, pulled the trim, and the wiring had been "disturbed".
Have you discussed with a LR dealer or service depatment? Rest assured, if it has happened to you, it has been reported by someone else previously.

Thanks for your reply just curious what year of build your vehicles are ?
I was thinking may be my wiring has been disturbed , like your series 1 disco.
I will be busy over the next few days and may have some time this weekend . I am looking at "breaking in" through the bonnet release catch and dis-connecting the battery to see if it resets the BCU . If no luck ,well it might have to go to LR dealer.

Well the bullitin does use the words "sleep" and "wake up"!;)

From what I can tell, the only fix is to replace the BCU. I have chosen to live with it.

Interestingly the longest the car has stayed lock, because of being away is 3 weeks but there was no issue in opening it

Thanks Road stone..."wake" and "sleep" makes sense. I had heard of this by my then dealer, however he indicated it related to the series 1 where using the fob may or may not lock or unlock the vehicle due to random frequency interferences. And it was an issue for mine, (hence why I know the lock wiring had been disturbed...the key did nothing because the trigger wire had been pulled from ther lock) but never an issue with my disco 2's (both 2000 models, TD5 and V8 (V8 is current).
Seems like there are limited options??? The break and enter seems extreme...maybe if you can get a bent wire...Z shaped, to force through the door frame, that can slip into the internal handle to see if a door can open from the inside...an old trick found when my EB Falcon used to self lock due to failed lock motors.

If you can slip stiff wire into tha cabin why not try pushing the door unlock button on the dash. That button should work even if the bcu is asleep.

(my 2000's bcu has always gone to sleep after several hours but always wakes after key use).

The other side of the coin to this issue is, if you are going away for 3 weeks, make sure you superlock your vehicle.

As others have said, it was also my understanding that the BCU shuts down all the power usage ("goes to sleep"?) after 96 hours. I have been away before for 2 weeks or more and have had no problem unlocking with the fob.

However, I went away for 2 weeks over this Christmas/New Year and this time didn't lock the vehicle which was in my garage at home. When I came home battery was flat as a tack. I didn't realise, apparently, that to get the BCU to go into sleep mode you need to superlock the vehicle.

My guess, Imma200, is that there's something wrong with your key lock and and the fob aerial in the vehicle. As I've said above, I've had no problems with fob after being away for over 2 weeks.

Mine is a 00 d2 v8, mine always seemed to do it on the coldest nights, I guess that was just a coincerdence, although since I got the new battery it hasn't done it once

On a recent trip I (Well my father in law) decided to lock the keys in the car. We tried everything to break in - ie coat hanger to pull up the door lock near the window, using a wire to pull open the door handle from the inside, both difficult and unsuccessful. Turns out you can pull the door lock as hard as you like and it will not unlock the door. We tested this after unlocking the door.

We use a long aerial, levered open the top of the passenger window and slipped the aerial in and pressed the 'lock / unlock' button near the glovebox as suggested in a post above. Im not sure whether the Disco was in superlock mode though.
