Looks good Sharkee and should give you adequate protection from the elements.
However before you go modifying and cutting it, use it in various situations first.
If it was mine, i think I'd mount it at the rear to give protection while accessing your gear which appears to be in the rear of vehicle. You could also run a ridge pole out in line with the open rear door and peg 2 to 2.5m of the roof section to the ground. Three poles is all you'll need then - one on the ridge pole and one at each of the other two corners. Extra poles only needed if high winds or rain expected.
You could also consider some detachable walls which could easily be secured to the short 'skirts' that surround your roof.
Something like this -

. I have a pole carrier to house poles so theyre covered and I have a toolbox for the roorack which could house both my side and rear canvas. So storing them isn't a problem.

it has a better cover and appears more securely attached to the rack than my el cheapo tarp solution shown here:
not to mention the price was bang on too!!
