I got a 00 v8 discovery, how much oil on average do they go threw over say a 10000km period?

1 Litre per 5000km isn't unusual.

Mine would be the most underpowered pathetic rover V8 in Oz, and even when towing a Caravan it doesnt use any oil,,
even less at the moment,,![]()

My friend P38 Rangie 4.6 will eat approx 0.5-1l/1000km.. I think piston rings are worn.. They are replaced, approx 30 000km ago, but it will eat..
If you have a manual, it is also dependant on how you drive it...
If you use engine braking a lot, the RV8 will consume noticeably more oil.

I too thought mine was going through oil pretty quick, but from the posts here it appears mine is just the norm too!

Engine breaking is something I always use, so this would explain the use of oil also, is there a reason for this?
