    lift kit for D2 discovery.....

    I am starting to think about the process of installing a 2 inch lift kit on my disco. Wad just chasing some feedback from others regarding this issue. Im not too shabby on the spanners so doing the actual install is something that interests me. Was just wondering what set-ups others are running etc. And ease of install also. I have sls rear, if this helps others

    To assist, it may be beneficial to indicate if SLS or coils on the back?

    The 2" setup with probably the most recommendations on the forum is Bilstein 994 & 995 shocks with either Dobinson or King Coils.

    I have the Bilstein / Dobinson setup at the moment and cant really fault it.

    Hello disco_goose,

    I've got a 2 inch lift done with King springs and bilsteins on the front(all good) with Bilsteins and a 2 inch lift kit for SLS on the back(all good).
    It was installed by a reputed dealer that I won't name because of the sub-standard job. But once installed properly has proved to be a good touring set up. I have nothing to compare it to other than the original suspension which was failing.
    The set up felt like it took about 6 months to settle in properly, but may have been a case of me getting used to it.
    Otherwise the lift made no major difference with the SLS and ACE( it's just Ace ).

    Thought I'd tack onto the end of this thread, the Terrafirma 2" kit (shocks and springs) from John Craddock is pretty competitive price-wise.
    Anyone have experience for/against with the Terrafirma gear? Aim is for touring with increased off-road ability rather than balls-out 4WDing - that is, until I get to head out without the misses!

    Only thing with T/F gear is it's expensive locally and some have had issues with some shocks but the pro sport versions seem to be trouble free and available in +2 & 3" for D2.

    Ok, cheers. JC don't seem to stock the Pro Sport in a 2", only 3". I understand 2" is the max without having to alter brake lines and the like.

    Grab a new set of extended braided lines with the order. They are well cheap enough over there. Also consider the ABS extensions, these are at full length with 2" and sometimes have pulled from the clips.

    The fronts are TF144 and 145 for rears. They should be able to source them for you.

    I think the "off the shelf" springs are just too hard. I had a custom set of springs made to suit mine. The fronts are 170lb and 17.8" free length. If you have a TD5 then 180lb is perfect. Custom shocks from a spring manufacturer will be a lot cheaper than of the shelf springs

    I used Koni Heavy track shocks for 2" lift which were $600 for 4 delivered from UK
